499 State of Maryland Baltimore County to wit I hereby certify that Edward G. Starr Esquire before whom the annexed acknowledgement and affidavit was made and who has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn. ( Baltimore ) In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal (County Court) of Baltimore County Court this eighteenth day of september AD ( Maryland ) 1851. A. W. I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Landy Linsted my girl Maria slave for life aged about thirteen years To have and to hold the said negro girl above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Landy Linsted his executors administrators and assigns forever, and I the said William V. Stinchcomb for myself my heirs executors and administrators the said negro girl Maria slave for life unto the said Landy Linsted his executors administrators and assigns against me my administrators executors or assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will ^forever^ warrant and defend by these presents. In witness whereof I the said William V. Stinchcomb have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of September 1851. In presence of Dorsey Jacob William V. Stinchcomb (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland A. A. Co. to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this thirteenth day of September 1851 before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County personally appears William V. Stinchcomb he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing bill of sale and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed and at the same time and place also appeared before me Landy Linsted grantee in the said bill of sale named and made oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged before Dorsey Jacob Anne arundel County to wit Received this day one dollar for stamp duty on this Instrument |
