State of Md Stamp      Know all men by these presents that I
(           one          )      Parrott Rathall of Anne Arundel County and
(           Dol          )      State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of eighteen hundred dollars lawful money of the United
States in hand paid by Abel G. Rathell of Holmes County
and State of Mississippi at or before the sealing and
delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Abel G
Rathell his executors administrators and assigns the
following negroes Slave for life viz Rebecca Rolle
aged twenty six years Edward Rolle aged eight years
Charles Rolle aged seven years Samuel Rolle aged five
and a half years Jacob Rolls two and a half years and Caesar
Rolls aged eight months.  To Have and To Hold the said
described negro Slaves Rebecca Edward Charles Samuel
Jacob and Caesar hereby bargained and sold to the said Abel
G. Rathell his executors administrators and assigns forever
and I the said Parrott Rathell for myself my heirs
executors and administrators the said negro Slaves unto
the said Abel G. Rathell his Executors administrators
and assigns against me the said Parrott Rathell my
Executors and administrators and against all and every
other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant
and forever defend by these presents.  In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9.th
day of June eighteen hundred and fifty one
Signed Sealed and delivered        Parrott Rathell   (seal)
       in the presence of D. C. Bordley

At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

          Baltimore City S. S.  Be it remembered.  That on this
ninth day of June 1851 before the subscriber a justice of the
peace for said City appears Parrott Rathell and acknowledges
the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according
to the true intent and meaning thereof.  And at the same time
appeared before me Abel G. Rathell the grantee in the said
Bill of sale named and made oath that the consideration
