have any children or increase during that time they
shall respectively serve as follows viz if males until they
shall arrive at the age of thirty nine years and if females
to serve to the age of thirty five years.  Which said slave
Maranda and her issue or increase should she have any
as aforesaid I will warrant and defend to the said Joab
Smith his executors administrators and assigns against
me my Executors and administrators and each and every
of them and against every other person or persons whatsoever
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and
affixed my seal this fourteenth day of May in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one

          At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

On the fourteenth day of May eighteen hundred and
fifty one appeared before me one of the justices of the peace
in and for the said County Samuel Chaney and acknowledged
the within and foregoing bill of sale or instrument of
writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent
and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such
case made and provided.  Witness my hand A. J. Phelps

    At the same time and place also appeared before me
Joab Smith the grantee in the said bill of sale named
and made oath that the consideration set forth in the
said bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth
Recorded the 30.th day of May 1851   sworn before A. J. Phelps

Talbot County and State of
Maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of five hundred dollars lawful money of
of the United States in hand paid by Dorsey Stewart of
Anne Arundel County in said State at or before the
sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold
and by these presents do grant bargain and sell
unto the said Dorsey Stewart his executors administrators
and assigns my negro woman named or called Mary
