On this 25.th day of April 1851 personally appeared W.m Lyles
who being known to me as the party grantor in the aforegoing
bill of sale or instrument of writing before me the Subscriber
a justice of the peace in and for the City of Baltimore & State
of Maryland and acknowledged the same to be his act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned & according to the true
intent & meaning thereof

                   Acknowledged before   H. R. Robbins

The Condition of the within bill of sale or instrument of
writing is such that if the said W.m Lyles shall pay or cause
to be paid to J W & E. Reynolds the sum of four hundred dollars
on or before the first day of November 1851 the said bill of sale
or instrument of writing shall be null & void otherwise of full
force & virtue in law.  The same having been given to secure
to them they payment of said sum of money.  Witness
our hands & seals this 25.th day of April 1851

   On this 1.st day of May A. D. 1851 before the Subscriber
a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and
for the City aforesaid personally appeared Edward Reynolds
one of the firm of J W & E Reynolds and made oath on the
Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set
forth in the within Bill of sale or instrument of writing
is bona fide as therein set forth

Joab Smith "Bill of sale
Know all men by these presents
that I Samuel Chaney of Rezin
of Anne Arundel County and
State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one
hundred and forty dollars current money to me in hand
paid by Joab Smith of the County and State aforesaid
the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have
granted bargained sold and delivered and by these
presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto
the said Joab Smith my negro Slave Miranda to
serve him the said Joab Smith his heirs Executors
administrators or assigns from the date hereof until
she shall attain to the age of thirty five years.  She being
born on the 30.th day of October in the year of the Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty two and should she
