       At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

                   Anne Arundel County Sct.

Before me a justice of the peace in and for said County
personally appears William H. Tuck this 29.th day of April
1851 and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing
to be his act & deed.
   
                Acknowledged before & certified by J. W. Hunter

    Received on this 10.th day of May 1851 the sum of one
dollar for the duty chargeable on the foregoing Bill of Sale
Recorded the 10.th day of May 1851     Jos. H. Nicholson Clk

This Indenture made this twenty
ninth day of April in the year
eighteen hundred and forty one
between William Lomax of Anne
Arundel County Maryland of the one part and Richard
Crandell of the same County of the other part.  Whereas
the said William Lomax is indebted to the said Richard
Crandell in the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars
and for the payment thereof with interest from the date
hereof has this day executed his single bill for that amount
payable as follows one hundred and fifty dollars with
thereon on or before the first day of January next one
hundred and fifty dollars with interest thereon on or before
the first day of September eighteen hundred and fifty two
and one hundred and fifty dollars residue thereof with
interest thereon on or before the first day of May eighteen
hundred and fifty three which said single bill or bond is
written in a stamp of the proper determination that is to
say of twenty five cents.  And whereas the said William Lomax
to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these
presents.  Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said William
Lomax for and in consideration of the premises and of the
sum of one dollar in hand paid the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged has granted bargained and sold
and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto
the said Richard Crandell his executors administrators
and assigns, a negro girl named Maria the daughter
of the said William Lomax whom he has this day
purchased from William H. Tuck.  To Have and To Hold
