State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, Sct:  On this
22.nd day of April eighteen hundred and fifty one,
personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of
the Peace of said State, in and for said County the above
named Thomas Solley the grantee mentioned in the
aforegoing bill of sale, and made oath, that the consideration
therein mentioned is true and bona fide as
therein set forth.   Sworn before

Anne Arundel County, to wit:  I certify that the grantee
this day paid one dollar, being the duty chargeable by
Law on this Instrument of writing, the receipt whereof is
hereon endorsed, agreeably to the Act of Assembly of December
Session 1846, Chapter 61.  Given under my hand ^this^ 22.nd day of
April 1851

Thomas Solley
Know all men by these presents that I,
Henry Johnson of Anne Arundel County,
in the State of Maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of three hundred and
twenty five dollars, current money, to me in hand paid
by Thomas Solley of the County and State aforesaid, at and
before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt
whereof, I the said Henry Johnson do hereby acknowledge,
have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Solley,
his executors, administrators and assigns, my negro Basil, who
was purchased by me of Freeborn G. Waters executor of the last
will and testament of Charles Waters deceased, which said boy
is to serve until the first day of May, in the year one
thousand, eight hundred and seventy, four, and
then to be free, as will appear by reference to Bill of Sale
of the said Freeborn G. Waters, Executor as aforesaid,
recorded in the Clerks office of said County, to the said Henry
Johnson.  To have and to hold the said negro boy Basil to
the said Thomas Solley, his executors, administrators and
assigns, for the period above limited and prescribed, and
then to be free and discharged from all manner of service,
whatever, according to the ^purport^ true intent, purport and meaning
