Henry Johnson
         to
Thomas Solley
Know all men by these presents that I
Henry Johnson of Anne Arundel County,
in the State of Maryland, for and in
consideration of the sum of two hundred
and sixty two dollars and fifty cents, current money, to
me in hand paid by Thomas Solley of the County and
State aforesaid, at and before the sealing and delivery
of these presents, the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge
have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Solley, a
negro man by the name of Harry, aged about forty years
and a slave for life:  to have and to hold the said negro as
above described to the said Thomas Solley his executors, administrators
and assigns forever.  And I the said Henry Johnson for myself,
my heirs, executors, and administrators, the said negro
Henry, above bargained and sold to the said Thomas Solley,
his executors, administrators and assigns, against me the
said Henry Johnson, my executors, administrators and assigns,
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
And I the said Henry Johnson, for myself, my executors and
administrators, the said negro man Henry above bargained
and sold do warrant by these presents to be a slave for life, and
sound in mind and body.  In witness whereof I the said
Henry Johnson have hereto set my hand and seal this
sixteenth day of April, eighteen hundred and fifty one

the presence of

State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County: Sct:  On this
sixteenth day of April, in the year, eighteen hundred and
fifty one, personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice
of the Peace of the said State, in and for said county the above
named Henry Johnson the grantor mentioned in the aforegoing
bill of sale, and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed
for the purpose therein mentioned      J. W. Hunter
