benefit, and behoof forever   And I the said Robert T. Hodges
my heirs, executors, administrators, the said bargained
premises, unto the said Sally Hodges, her executors, administrators
and assigns, from and against all person and
persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend
by these presents.  In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this tenth day of February, in the year,
eighteen hundred and fifty one

State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, Sct.  Be it
remembered, that on this tenth day of February, eighteen
hundred and fifty one, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace
of the State of Maryland, in and for Anne Arundel County
personally appeared, Robert T. Hodges, and acknowledged the aforegoing
instrument of writing to be his act and deed.  And at the
same time also personally appeared Sally Hodges the above named
grantee, and made oath upon the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God, that the consideration mentioned in the above bill
of sale is true and bonafide, as is therein set forth
Acknowledged and sworn before me

Anne Arundel County to wit:  I certify that the grantee
this day paid one dollar, being the duty chargeable by
law on this Instrument of Writing, the receipt whereof
is hereon endorsed, agreeably to the Act of Assembly of December
Session 1846 Chapter 61.  Given under my hand this

(one dollar)    This Indenture made this twelvth
(   stamp   )    day of November, in the year of our Lord,
one thousand, eight hundred and fifty, between
William H Wood of the City of Baltimore of the
first part and Floyd Chaney of Baltimore City, and State of Maryland, of
the second part.  Whereas the said William H. Wood, being indebted to
sundry persons on Judgments in Anne Arundel County on
some of which executions had been issued, and levied on certain
negroes hereinafter named, and on some others, executions were about
to be issued, under which said negroes would have been sold, to
satisfy.  And whereas certain persons being desirous to prevent the
