455 State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered, and it is hereby certified, that on this thirty first day of January, in the year, eighteen hundred and fifty one, before me the Subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for the County aforesaid, personally appeared, John D. Meekins, he being known to me to be the person, who is named, and described as, and professing to be a party to the foregoing "bill of sale", and doth acknowledge the said bill of sale or Instrument of Writing to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name, on the day and year aforesaid Allen Marriott And at the same time, and place, also appeared before me, Mary Jane Meekins, the grantee in the said bill of sale named, and made oath that the consideration set forth in said bill of sale is true and bonafide as therein set forth Allen Marriott Recorded the 4.th day of February 1851 Ex.d d d Co $1.40 paid
hundred and twenty one dollars current money to me in hand paid by James W. Allen, of Anne Arundel County, State of Maryland, at, or before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof, I the said Robert Plummer do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said James W. Allen, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns a certain negro man named Titus, a slave manumitted by will of the said Joseph G. Harrison, to serve, until he is thirty years of age, which term will expire on the 2.nd day of November, eighteen hundred and fifty nine. And I, Robert Plummer, Administrator of Thomas L. Simmons, deceased of Calvert County, State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and eight dollars and fifty cents current money to me in hand paid by James W. Allen of Anne Arundel County Maryland, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof, I, the said Robert Plummer do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said James W.
