dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Mary Jane Meekins of the County and State aforesaid, at and before the ensealing and delivery^ing^ of these presents, the receipt whereof, I the said John D. Meekins do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said Mary Jane Meekins her executors, administrators and ^or^ assigns, the following property, to wit: one sorrel horse, one black mare, one chickasaw horse, 2 cows, 2 yearlings, 18 sheep, 7 shoats, 1 sow and pigs, two thousand pounds tobacco part stripped, part hanging in the house, 1 wheat fan, one two hou^r^se wagon and gears 11 bushels wheat, 15 barrels corn, 8 hundred pounds Bacon 2 ploughs, 2 cultivators, 1 drag-harrow, 1 corn sheller 3 Bedsteads ^beds^ and bedding, 1 sideboard, 1 desk, 2 tables, 2 carpets, 12 chairs, 1 Rocking chair 2 pair shovel & tongs, 1 fender, 2 pair andirons, 1 gun, 4 looking glasses, 1 seife, 1 clock, 1 tea-board and two waiters, 7 silver tea-spoons, and three large ones, 2 coffee pots, a parcel of china ware, one wardrobe, together with all my kitchen ware, and now in my possession, to have and to hold the said property to the said Mary Jane Meekins, her Executors, Administrators or Assigns for ever, and I the said John D. Meekins, for myself, my heirs, Executors and Administrators, the aforesaid property to the said Mary Jane Meekins, her executors, administrators, and assigns, against me the said John D. Meekins, my Executors, and Administrators, and against all, and every person and persons whomsoever, shall and will warrant, and forever defend by these presents. Provided nevertheless that in case, I, the said John D. Meekins shall pay and satisfy to the said Mary Jane Meekins, or to her Executor, Administrator or assigns, the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars current money, with interest for the same, on or before the 1.st day of January, eighteen hundred and fifty two, then this bill of sale, and every matter and thing therein expressed, shall be void, and of none effect; it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged ^by me^ to the said John D. Meekins to secure to the child of the said Mary Jane Meekins, the payment of the money aforesaid. In witness whereof, I the said John D.
