paid by Francis H. Stockett of the City of Annapolis and state
aforesaid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof I the said Joseph N. Stockett do hereby acknowledge,
have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Frank H. Stockett,
his Executors, Administrators and Assigns my negro
woman Milly about twenty four years old, and her infant
son Jol, about twenty months old, now being with General
John N. Watkins of said City.  To Have and to Hold the said
negroes, and all future increase of said Milly, as slaves for
lief, above bargained and sold, or mentioned and intended
so to be, to the said Francis H. Stockett, his Executors, Administrators
forever.  And I the said Joseph N. Stockett, for myself, my
heirs, Executors and Administrators all and singular the
said negroes, slaves for life, unto the said Francis H.
Stockett, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns
against me the said Joseph N. Stockett, my Executors and
Administrators, and against all and every other person or
persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant, and forever
defend by these presents.  In witness whereof, I, the said Joseph N.
Stockett have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this eighth day of January, in the year, eighteen hundred
and fifty one

State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, to wit:

On this eighth day of January in the year, eighteen hundred
and fifty one, before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State
of Maryland, in and for said County personally appeared Joseph N.
Stockett, who is personally known to me to be the identical
person, named and described as, and professing to be the
party grantor in the foregoing Instrument of Writing, and
acknowledged the same to be his act and deed.  And at the
same time also appeared the within named Francis H. Stockett, grantee
in said Instrument of Writing, and made oath that the
consideration set forth in the same is true and bonafide as therein set forth
Acknowledged and sworn to before and certified by   J. W. Hunter

Anne Arundel County, to wit.  I certify that the grantee this day paid
one dollar, being the duty chargeable by Law, on this Instrument
of Writing, the receipt whereof is hereon endorsed agreeably to the Act of Assembly
of December Session 1846 Chapter 61.  Given under my hand this 8.th January 1851
