W. Nutwell his heirs executors and administrators and every of them
by these presents hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents
doth grant bargain and sell unto the said James Kent his executors
administrators and assigns all and singular the following named
negroes Slaves for life to wit one negro man named Ben aged forty five
years one other negro man named Henry aged twenty two years one negro
lad named Washington aged eighteen years one negro boy John aged twelve
years one other negro boy named Charles aged ten years one other negro boy
named Tom aged ten years three negro children named Joseph Edward
and –– aged four or five years one negro woman named Nelly aged thirty
years one other negro woman named Mary aged twenty years one other
negro woman named Matilda aged twenty years one negro child Bet
aged six years to have and to hold all and singular the said negroes
herein before granted bargained and sold or meant mentioned or intended
so to be unto the said James Kent his executors administrators or
assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said James Kent his
executors administrators and assigns forever provided always and these
presents are executed upon this express condition that if the said
George W. Nutwell his executors or administrators shall well and truly
comply perform and discharge the duties and conditions in said Bond
set forth in such a manner as to secure and save harmless the said
James Kent his heirs executors and administrators from any loss
liability damage or injury by reason of his responsibility as security
on said bond as aforesaid and remunerate and discharge all costs and
expenses which the said James Kent may be put to in consequence
of the same then and in such case these presents and every matter
and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void
to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the contrary
thereof in any wise notwithstanding.  And the said George W. Nutwell
for himself his executors and administrators all and singular the
said negroes by these presents granted bargained and sold and every
of them unto the said James Kent his executors administrators
and assigns against him the said George W. Nutwell his executors
and administrators and against all and every other person and
persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend
by these presents

          In witness whereof the said George W. Nutwell hath hereunto
set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first
herein before written
