against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall
and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
In Witness whereof I the said Edward A Davis have hereunto set my
hand and seal this third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty five

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this third
day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty five before the Subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of
Maryland in and for the County of Anne Arundel personally
appears Edward A. Davis he being known to me to be the person
who is named and described and professing to be a party to the
foregoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture
or instrument of writing to be his act and deed.  In Testimony whereof
I subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

Mortgage from George W. Nutwell
to James Kent of negroes &s dated the
nineteenth day of July eighteen
hundred and forty five
This Indenture made this
nineteenth day of July in
the year of the Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty five
between George W. Nutwell of Anne Arundel County and
State of Maryland of the one part and James Kent of the County
and state aforesaid of the other part whereas the said James Kent
stands bound for the said George W. Nutwell as his security
in a bond of the said George W. Nutwell to the state of Maryland
in the penalty of seventeen thousand seven hundred and sixty
four dollars and thirty seven cents for the faithful discharge
by the said George W. Nutwell of the duties and the performance
of the conditions in said bond enumerated and the said George
W. Nutwell being desirous to secure and save harmless the said
James Kent against all responsibility which may occur to him
as security as aforesaid therefore this Indenture witnesseth that the
said George W. Nutwell as well for and in consideration of securing
the said James Kent against any liability or loss as aforesaid as for
the sum of five dollars current money to him in hand paid by
the said James Kent at and before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said George
