having complied with the terms and conditions in said
order, became the purchaser of a negro man named John
Mills for the sum of seventy dollars.  Now This Indenture
dollars, as aforesaid paid by the party of the second part to
these presents, to the party of hte first part hereto, the receipt whereof he
doth hereby acknowledge, the said Patrick McLaughlin has
bargained and sold, granted and assigned, and by these
presents doth bargain and sell, assign and transfer, unto the said
William Williams his Executors, Adminstrators and Assigns a
negro man named John Miles, about seventy years of age, a slave
for life.  To Have and To Hold the negro slave above bargained
and sold, or mentioned or intended so to be to teh said William
Williams, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, during the
life of teh said negro slave.  In testimony whereof the said
Patrick McLaughlin hath hereunto subscribed his name, and
affixed his seal on the day and year above written
Signed, sealed and delivered         Patrick McLaughlin   (Seal)
in presence of John L. Snyder

State of Maryland, City of Baltimore, to wit:

Be it remembered, and it is hereby certified than on this thirtieth
day of November in the year eighteen hundred and fifty, before the
subscriber a Justice of the Peace of said State, in and for said City, personally
appeared Patrick McLaughlin, the party named in teh above bill of sale,
and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed.  And at the same time
did also appear William Williams, the above named vendee, and
made oath that the consideration mentioned in the above Bill of Sale
is true and bonafide as therein stated.  In testimony whereof, I have
hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid

State of Maryland, Baltimore County Sct.  I hereby certify that
John L. Snyder Esquire, before whom the annexed acknowledgement
was made, and who has thereto subscribed his name, was at the
time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in
and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn
                                     In testimony whereof, I hereto set my
                                     hand, and affix the seal of Baltimore

       (Place)                   eighteen hundred and fifty
