presents, hereby bargained and sold, or mentioned or
intended to be so, unto her the said Polly Bowie as aforesaid
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the
first day of January 1851                                 his

State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County Sct.

Be it remembered, and it is hereby certified that on this first day
of January 1851, before the Subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland,
in and for Anne Arundel County, aforesaid personally appears
Benjamin Cregg, he being known to me to be the person who is
named and described as, and professing to be a party to the
foregoing Bill of Sale, and doth acknowledge the said Bill of
Sale or Instrument of Writing to be his act and deed.   In
testimony whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name on the day
and year aforesaid
                                                    Allen Marriott

And at the same time and place also appeared before me
Polly Bowie, the grantee in the said bill of sale named, and
made oath that the consideration set forth in the said bill of
sale is true and bonafide as therein set forth

Sarah Wells
      to
Edward Taylor
Know all men by these presents that I, Sarah Wells
of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland, for and
in in consideration of the sum of one hundred and
thirty five dollars to me in hand paid by Edward Taylor, a free
negro man of Anne Arundel County, and state aforesaid, at
and before the ensealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt
whereof, I the said Sarah Wells do hereby acknowledge, have granted,
bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell
unto the said Edward Taylor free negro man, his Executors
Administrators and Assigns, the following negroes, to wit:
negro woman Sarah aged about twenty six years old, and her
child Richard about ten months old, all of said negroes slaves
for life, and now in my possession.  To Have and To Hold the said
negroes Sarah Ann and Richard to the said Edward Taylor, free negro
man, his Executors Administrators and Assigns forever, and I the said
Sarah Wells for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, the
