431 Maryland, for, and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars current money, to me in hand paid by John H. Sellman of Anne Arundel County in the said State, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I the said Nicholas Steuart do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said John H. Sellman his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, one negro man named Jacob, a slave for life aged on and about seven years; and one chicasaw Mare all and singular said negro boy Jacob and said mare. To Have and To Hold, as above bargained and sold, or mentioned and intended so to be, to the said John H. Sellman his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever. And I the said Nicholas Steuart, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, all and singular the said negro Jacob, and said mare unto the said John H. Sellman, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said Nicholas Steuart, my Executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant, and forever defend by these presents said negro boy Jacob and said Mare. I the said Nicholas Stewart have put the said John H. Sellman in full possession by delivering to him the said John H. Sellman, the said negro boy Jacob, and said mare, at the sealing and delivery of these presents. In witness whereof the said Nicholas Steuart has hereunto set his hand and seal on the nineteenth day of October, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty Signed, sealed and delivered Nicholas Stewart (Seal) in presence of Allan Marriott State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered, and it is hereby certified, that on this nineteenth day of October 1850, before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for said County personally appears Nicholas Steuart, he being known to me to be the person who is named, and described as, and professing to be a party to the foregoing Bill of Sale, and doth acknowledge the said Bill of Sale or Instrument of Writing, to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name, on the day and year aforesaid Allen Marriott And at the same time and place also appeared before me John H. Sellman, grantee in the said bill of sale named and made oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bonafide as therein set forth Allen Marriott |
