Arundel County in the State of Maryland of the one part and Elizabeth Elice
of the same County and State of the other part   Whereas the said Albert G Cooksey
is indebted to the said Elizabeth Elice in the sum of six hundred and fifty
dollars for which he has executed and delivered to the said Elizabeth his
Bond bearing date the twenty third day of January Eighteen hundred and
fifty payable on demand and bearing Interest from date and also in
the sum of seven hundred dollars for which he has likewise given his Bond
or single Bill bearing date the fourth day of January Eighteen hundred
and forty two and to secure the payment of the said Bond or single Bills
with the Interest respectively payable is willing to Execute these presents   Now
This Indenture Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and
of one dollar in hand paid by the said Elizabeth Elice at and before the
sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
the said Albert G Cooksey hath granted bargained and sold and by these
presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Elizabeth Elice her
Executors administrators and assigns the following named negro slaves to wit
Negro woman Sophy aged about thirty three or thirty four years negro
Boy Dick about ten years of age negro Girl Rachel about Eight years
of age negro Boy John about four years of age all of said negroes being
now in the possession of the said Albert G Cooksey   To Have and To
Hold all and singular the said negro slaves unto the said Elizabeth
Elice her executors administrators and assigns to her and their own use
and behoof   Provided always and it is the true intent and meaning
of these presents that if the said Albert G Cooksey do and shall
well and truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the Said Elizabeth
Elice her executors and administrators or assigns the sums of
money above mentioned with legal interest payable thereon as aforesaid
on or before the first day of March Eighteen hundred and fifty one
then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing
therein Shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents
and purposes any thing therein Contained to the contrary Notwithstanding
And the said Albert G Cooksey his Executors and
administrators all and singular the said negro slaves by these
presents granted bargained and sold and every one thereof
unto the said Elizabeth her Executors administrators and assigns
against him the Said Albert G Cooksey his Executors and
administrators and against all and every other person and persons
whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend by these presents
In testimony whereof the said Albert G Cooksey hath hereunto
set his hand and seal this twenty ninth day of March Eighteen
hundred and fifty
