368 acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Ann Warfield her executors administrators and assigns one negro boy John about five years old to be free the 3.d of February eighteen hundred and seventy nine (1879) of the property of Patience McCubbin late of A. A. County deceased as a slave for the above term and thereafter to be free and discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last will and testament of the said (decd) the said negro boy being sold and conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested in me by said last will and testament. To Have and to Hold the said described negro boy John for the term of years specified above but no longer to the said Ann Warfield as aforesaid her executors administrators and assigns In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 11.th day of September eighteen hundred and forty nine (1849) Henry A. Williams Signed sealed and delivered in Exor. of P. McCubbin (seal) presence of Addison Johnson her Ann x Warfield (seal) mark State of Maryland A. A. County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 11th day of September in the year eighteen hundred and forty nine before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for A. A. County aforesaid personally appears Henry A. Williams and Ann Warfield they being known to me to be the persons who are named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing Bill of Sale and doth acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be their act and deed And at the same time and place also appeared before me Ann Warfield the grantee in the said Bill of Sale named and made oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged before Addison Johnson Recorded on the 27th day of September 1849 Cost $.62½ paid
sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Elijah R. Arnold his executors administrators and assigns one negro woman named "Melley" about twenty years old of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as a slave to serve until the first day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty two (1852) and thereafter to be free and discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form & effect of the last will & testament of the said dec.d the said negro woman being sold and conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested in me by said last will and testament To Have and to Hold the said described negro woman "Melley" for the term of years |
