for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars premises and for and in consideration
of the premises sum of five dollars current money to him in hand paid by
the said Stevens Gambrill at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof the said Passmore McCullough acknowledges and thereof and therefrom doth
acquit release exonerate and forever discharge the said Stevens Gambrill his heirs
executors administrators and every of them by these presents hath granted bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Stevens
Gambrill his executors administrators and assigns all and singular the goods furniture
and household stuff hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say
five feather beds two bedsteads two pair of blankets two quilts one pair of sheets twelve
chairs three was stands five basins and pitchers six chambers one small mahogany
stand one small mahogany table one clock two looking glasses one english carpet
one pair of fancy window curtains two small cherry tables one large pine table one
pair of andirons one fender shovel and tongs pair of waiters a lot of carpting and
rods for steps one settee one pair of iron andirons three kegs three large jugs four
decanters three waiters seven tumblers one bureau one high post bedstead three old
chairs one black and white cow and one yoke of oxen and ox cart   To Have and to hold
all and singular the said good furniture and household stuff hereinafter granted
bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be unto the said Steven
Gambrill his executors administrators and assigns to the only proper use and
behoof of the said Steven Gambrill his executors administrators and assigns forever
Provided always and these presents are upon this condition that if the said
John L Benjamin for whom the said Stevens Gambrill has become surety in the
replevin bond aforesaid shall well and truly prosecute his writ of replevin in Anne
Arundel County Court with effect and also shall and will return the the goods
and chattels to the said Anne Lambden of the same be adjudged and in all things
stand to abode by perform and fulfil the Judgment in the premises of the said
Anne Arundel County Court so as to save harmless the said Steven Gambrill as
security as aforesaid shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and
purposes anything contained to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding
In Witness whereof the said Passmore McCullough hath hereunto set his hand and
seal this fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty nine
