and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Thomas Hammond his executors administrators and assigns one negro woman named Maria to serve untill the eighteenth day of April one thousand eight hundred sixty two and to be free; she being the same girl which was sold by John T. Pumphrey to Caleb Kelly and by Caleb Kelly to Dennis Wesley and recorded among the records of Baltimore County in Liber A W B N.o 71 folio 42 and Liber A. W. B. No 74 folio 160 &c one of the chattel records of Baltimore County To Have and to Hold the said described negro woman Maria for the time aforesaid to the said Thomas Hammond his executors administrators and assigns. And I the said Dennis Wesley for myself my heirs executors and administrators the said negro woman Maria unto the said Thomas Hammond his executors administrators and assigns against me the said Dennis Wesley my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of December 1848 his signed sealed & delivered in Dennis x Wesley (seal) presence of mark Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered that on this 29th December 1848 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County appears Dennis Wesley and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before Dennis Griffith Maryland Anne Arundel County ss On this 29th December 1848 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appears Thomas Hammond and makes oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God the foregoing Bill of Sale is a bona fide purchase for a full and fair consideration Sworn before Dennis Griffith Recorded on the 30th day of December 1848 Cost 62½ paid
