311. to serve also until she is thirty one years old then to be free and discharged from all manner of servitude; the said woman Mary and child Ann Mariah being sold and conveyed by me as administrator on the estate of Richard Cromwell of Oliver, and in virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the orphans court of Anne Arundel County To Have and to Hold the said described negroes, Mary and Mariah for the term of years aforesaid but no longer to the said Ezekiel E. Bell his executors and administrators as aforesaid. In Witness we have hereunto set our hands and seals this thirtieth day of November eighteen hundred and forty eight Signed sealed and delivered in the George E. Cromwell (seal) presence of W.m Hawkins J. P. Ezekiel E. Bell (seal) State of Maryland Anne Arundel County ss. Be it remembered that on this 30th day of November 1848 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County appears George E. Cromwell as aforesaid and Ezekiel E. Bell and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be there act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before W.m Hawkins J. P. And at the same time and place also appeared Ezekiel E. Bell the Grantee named in the within Bill of Sale and made oath that the within consideration set forth in said Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth sworn before W.m Hawkins J. P. Received Decr. 4.th 1848 one dollar for stamp duty on the within Bill of Sale Jn H Nicholson Clk Recorded on the 4.th day of December 1848 Deld to Grantee 12 Decr 1850 Cost $.62½ paid
paid by Thomas Pumphrey senior of the County and state afforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Thomas Pumphrey senior his executors administrators and assigns one negro man from the property of the said Richard Cromwell of Oliver deceased to and serve until he arrives to the age of forty years and thereafter to be free and discharged from all servitude the said negro man Jim being sold and conveyed by me as administrators &.c and by the power and authority vested in me by the orphans Court of the County & state afforesaid. To Have and to Hold the said described negro Jim for the term of years afforesaid but no longer to the said Thomas Pumphrey senior his heirs administrators and assigns as afforesaid In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 22d day of November eighteen hundred and forty eight |
