299 executors administrators or assigns the full sum of five hundred dollars current money with legal interest for the same, then & in that case these presents & every matter & thing herein mentioned shall cease and be utterly null & void any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof notwithstanding. And the said Charles F. Worthington for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth covenant promise grant and agree to & with the said N. B. Worthington his heirs, executors administrators & assigns, that he the said Charles F. Worthington his heirs executors administrators & assigns shall & will well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said N. B. Worthington his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, the said sum of four hundred dollars with legal interest as aforesaid without any deduction or abatement as aforesaid. And the said Charles F. Worthington for himself, his executors and administrators, the said negro boy by these presents granted, bargained & sold unto the said N. B. Worthington his executors administrators & assigns against him the said Charles F. Worthington his executors administrators and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Charles F. Worthington has hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal on the day & year first above written. Signed sealed & delivered in the Cha.s F. Worthington (seal) presence of Sam.l Gott State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered that on this twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight personally appears Charles F. Worthington of Anne Arundel County State of Maryland the party grantor in the within deed or instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in & for Anne Arundel County & acknowledges the within deed or instrument of writing to be his act & deed and the negro boy therein mentioned & thereby bargained and sold to be the right & estate of the within named N. B. Worthington party grantee his heirs & assigns forever, according to the purport true intent & meaning of the within deed or instrument of writing, and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided And I do hereby certify that I am satisfied of my own knowledge that Charles F. Worthington the party making this acknowledgment is the person named and described as & professing to be their party grantor in the within deed or instrument of writing. Acknowledged before & certified by me the subscriber the day & year first herein mentioned Sam.l Gott Recorded on the 25.th day of October 1848 Cost $1.37
