whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these
presents of all and singular which said goods and chattels I the
said Samuel have put the said William Spence in full possession
by delivering to him one horse at the sealing and delivery of these
presents in the name of the whole premises, hereby bargained and
sold or mentioned and intended so to be unto him the said William
Spence as aforesaid.  In Witness whereof the said Samuel McPherson
hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this
twenty second day of August in the year eighteen hundred and

    State of Maryland A A City to wit

       On this twenty second day of August eighteen hundred and forty
eight before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state
of Maryland in and for said County personally appeared the
hereinbefore mentioned Samuel McPherson he being known to me
to be the person who is named and described as and professing
to be the party grantor to the foregoing instrument of writing
and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed and at the
same time also appeared the said William Spence the party
grantee and made oath that the consideration set forth in
said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth

Received on the 30.th day of August 1848 seventy five cents for balance
of stamp duty on the aforegoing instrument of writing

This Deed made this thirtieth day of August in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty
eight between George R. Webb of Anne Arundel County in
the state of Maryland of the one part and Sarah M. Webb
and Henrietta S. Webb of the City of Baltimore in the same
State of the other part witnesseth that for the purpose of securing to the said
Sarah M. Webb and Henrietta S. Webb their executors administrators or assigns at the
time and in the manner hereinafter specified of the sum of eight hundred
dollars bound by them to the said George R. Webb with legal interest thereon and
in further consideration of the sum of one dollar lawful money to the said Sarah
M. Webb and Henrietta S. Webb paid by the said George S. Webb before the execution
hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said George R. Webb hath
granted bargained sold and conveyed and doth hereby grant bargain sell and
