the said Alpheus B. Pumphrey his executors administrators and assigns
forever.  And I the said John R. Griffith for myself my heirs executors
and administrators all and singular the goods and chattels unto the said
Alpheus B. Pumphrey his executors administrators and assigns against
me John R. Griffith my executors and assigns, and against all and every
other person or persons shall and will forever warrant and defend by these
presents of all and singular which said goods and chattels I the said
John R. Griffith have put the said Alpheus B. Pumphrey in full possescon
of by delivering to the said Alpheus B. Pumphrey one table at the
sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises
hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be unto
him the said Alpheus B. Pumphrey aforesaid.  In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of August in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight

On this 12.th day of August 1848 personally appeared John R. Griffith
before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for
Anne Arundel County and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of
writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned

Bill of Sale
George Weems
             to
John Walton Jr.
Know all men by these presents that I, George
Weems of Anne Arundel County and State of
Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of thirty ^five^ dollars lawful money of the United
States in hand paid by John Walton of Anne
Arundel County and State aforesaid before the
sealing and of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do
grant bargain and sell unto the said John Walton his executors
administrators and assigns, negro woman named "Catherine" or
Kit to serve until the twenty sixth of November one thousand
eight hundred and fifty three, when she is to be free being the
same negro woman mentioned in a Bill of Sale to the said Charles
Dent from William Dorbacker and Henry Duckehart bearing date
the twenty first day of September one thousand eight hundred and
forty three and the same as mentioned in a Bill of Sale from said
Charles Dent to said George Weems, and recorded among the records
of Baltimore County in Liber T. K. No 68 folio 103 &c   To Have and To
Hold the said described woman Catharine or Kate during the
