subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County personally
appears Solomon S. Helsby and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be
his act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned, the said Solomon
S. Helsby being known to me to be the person named and described as
and professing to be the party to the aforegoing Bill of sale      And at
the same time and place, also appeared before me Martin F. Revell
the mortgagor in the said Bill of sale named.  And made Oath, that the
consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bonafide as therein
set forth
             Acknowledged and Sworn to before
                                                                Owen M. Taylor J. P.

Bill of Sale from
William H. Byrd
            To
James W. Allen

Know all men by these presents, that William H
Byrd of Anne Arundel County Maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of Five dollars current money of
the United Sates to me in hand paid by James W.
Allen also of Anne Arundel County Maryland
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof I the said William H. Byrd
do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James W. Allen his Executors,
Administrators or assigns, a certain negro slave called Henry Amear
who was bound by order of the City Court of baltimore at September Term
Eighteen hundred and forty six to the said William H. Byrd of Anne
Arundel County Maryland until he shall arrive at the age of twenty
one years and which said term will expire on the first day of October
(1853) eighteen hundred and fifty three, the said Boy having been convicted
at said Sept.r Term of Baltimore City Court of the crime of
Felony   To Have and to Hold the said negro slave Amear, above bargained
and sold, or intended so to be, to the said James W. Allen, his
Executors, Administrators or assigns to the said first day of October Eighteen
hundred and fifty three and no longer
    In witness whereof the said William H. Byrd, and the said James
W. Allen, have hereto subscribed their names and affixed their seals
this 5.th day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and forty Eight
