State of Maryland         Anne Arundel County to wit

On this twenty Eight day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty eight came the above named William S. Holliday
and Caroline Holliday his wife, before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace
in and for Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland and acknowledged
the above and within instrument of writing to be their acts and
deed               Acknowledged before
                                                             J. W. Hunter

Received 31.st march 1848 of William S. Holliday one dollar for stamp
duty chargeable on the above instrument

Bill of Sale from
Willie Ann Parker
               to
John S. Armiger

This Indenture made this Eleventh day of March
in the year Eighteen hundred and forty Eight between
Willie Anne Parker of Anne Arundel County in the
State of Maryland of the one part and John S Armiger
of the same County and state of the other part
Whereas, the said John S. Armiger hath purchased a negro
man named Lewis Parker as a slave for life, who is
the husband of the said Willie Anne Parker, at the instance and request
of the said Willie Anne Parker, in order to Enable her to purchase
him hereafter if she can comply with the terms hereinafter stated and
it is the intention of the said Willie Anne Parker by these presents, to
secure and indemnify the said John S. Armiger against any loss he may
sustain by reason of his said purchase so made at her instance and
request as aforesaid
                                  Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said
Willie Anne Parker, for and in consideration of the premises, and
of the sum of five dollars current money to her in hand paid by the
said John S. Armiger, at and before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted
bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell
unto the said John S. Armiger, his executors administrators and assigns
all and singular the goods furniture and household stuff, hereinafter
particularly mentioned and expressed, that is to say, four horses,
yoke of Oxen, three sheep, three Cows, sixteen hogs, one ox Cart chain
&.c plows harroes, hoes and other implements of husbandry, and
household furniture on the Farm of John Thomas   To Have and
to Hold all and singular the said goods furniture and household
