163 & 164 one of the record books of Anne Arundel County did for and in
consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars current money, grant
bargain and sell unto the said Amelia Towell, her executors, administrators
and assigns one negro woman called Nelly and her three children
viz John, Mary and Gassaway, one negro man called Samuel, one called
Richard and one called Jacob, all slaves for life, also A negro man called
Harry, and a negro woman called Julia, for A term of years, as by reference
to the said Mortgage bill of sale will more fully and at large appear, And
Whereas the said Henry C. Dunbar hath fully paid and satisfied to her the
said Amelia Towell the above mentioned sum of money and interest
thereon she the said Amelia Towell doth agree to Execute this instrument
of writing as a full release of the above described property
Now this indenture Witnesseth that the said Amelia Towell for
and in consideration of the payment of the above mentioned sum of money
and the interest thereon and for and in consideration of the sum of One
dollar to her in hand paid by the said Henry C. Dunbar at and before the
sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby Acknowledged
hath Given Granted bargained and sold, released, and confirmed
and by these presents doth Give, Grant bargain, sell and release and
confirm unto him the said Henry C. Dunbar his Executors administrators
and assigns, the above mentioned and described property.  To Have and to
Hold the said herein described Negroes, unto the said Henry C. Dunbar
his Executors Administrators and assigns
In Testimony Whereof the said Amelia Towell has hereunto set her
hand and seal on the day and year first above written
Signed Sealed and delivered                   her
       in presence of                        Amelia x Towell      (Seal)

                                  Baltimore City SS.

Be it Remembered that on this Twenty Sixth day of February in
the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty Eight before the subscriber
a Justice of the peace for said City appears Amelia Towell and
acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed
according to the true intent and meaning thereof

I hereby Certify That Nicholas Brewer Esquire before whom the annexed
acknowledgment was made and who has thereto subscribed his name
