Be it Remembered, That On this                        day of January 1848.
before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Said County appears the
above named John Glenn and acknowledges the above instrument
of writing to be his Act and deed, according to the true intent and meaning
thereof.  Acknowledged before

Know all men by these presents that I James
Pitcher of Anne Arundel County and State of
Maryland for the consideration of the sum of
Two hundred and seventy five Dollars ($275)
Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas C.
Pitcher of the County and State above named, the receipt of which
I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, sold, and Delivered
and by these presents, do grant, bargain sell and deliver, unto the
said Thomas C. Pitcher One Negro Boy by the name of George, a Slave for
life, which Boy is not to be sold out of the State which said property I will
warrant and defend to the said Thomas C. Pitcher, his Executors
Administrators, and assigns, against me, my Executors, Administrators
and against every other person, or persons whatsoever
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my name, and affixed my
Seal this 1.st day of January 1848

of the United States in hand paid by Henry Handy
trading in the firm of Handy & Co in the City of
Baltimore and state aforesaid at or before
the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby
Acknowledge, Have granted, bargained and sold, and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry Handy
his Executors, Administrators and assigns ten carts, ten horses, four
Cows Eleven sheep, one settee, one carriage bedding and bedsteads
