I further certify that the parties making said acknowledgement are personally

a Justice of the peace in and for said County Thomas J Brice and made
Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the aforesaid Bill of Sale
is true and bona fide as set forth to the best of his knowledge and belief

      Thomas B. Dorsey
Know all Men By These Presents, That I
John Glenn of the City of Baltimore and State
of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of two hundred and seventy five dollars lawful
money of the United States in hand paid by Thomas B. Dorsey of Howard
District of Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid at or before the sealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Have granted bargained and sold, and by these presents Do grant, bargain
and sell, unto the said Thomas B Dorsey his Executors Administrators
and Assigns at the City of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County on this
fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and forty eight my negro Girl Ritty
a slave for life, aged eleven years, about four feet five inches high, nearly
black and having a slight scar over her right Eye
To Have and To Hold the said described negro Girl Ritty to the said Thomas
B. Dorsey his Executors, Administrators and assigns forever and I the said
John Glenn for myself an for my Heirs Executors and administrators
the said negro Girl Ritty unto the said Thomas B. Dorsey his Executors
Administrators and assigns against my Executors and administrators,
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this fifth
day of January Eighteen Hundred and Forty eight
