Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said John G. Cromwell my Negro slave Charity the same I Purchased of the Estate of Charles Waters Late of Baltimore dec.d which said Girl Charity is to serve til the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and Seventy four and thereafter to be free and discharged from servitude which will more fully appear by Refference to the last will and testament of the said Charles Waters dec.d which said Girl Charity I the said Benjamin Orsbourn will warrant and defend to the said J. G. Cromwell his Executors administrators and assigns against me my executors and administrators and ganst Every other person or persons whatsoever in witness Whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this 20.th day of April 1847 Eighteen hundred and forty seven Benjamin Osbourn (Seal) Be it Remembered that On this twentieth day of April 1847 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County appears Benjamin Osbourn and Acknowledges the bove instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Henry C. Dunbar Recorded the 26.th day of October 1847 Ex.d & d.d Costs 60 cts Paid Sides
the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge the following property to wit four horses and one colt seven Cows and two oxen all of which property is now in my possession. To Have and To Hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said Samuel Owings his executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit And I the said Harry Dodson for myself my executors administrators |
