Basil Shephard of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland of the
one part and Benjamin W. Brown of the County and state aforesaid of the other
part whereas the said Benjamin W. Brown by Bill of seal bearing date on
the 24.th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred
and forty five duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the personal
deed records of Anne Arundel County Liber W. S. G. No 3 folio 378 did for and in
consideration of the sum of twenty eight dollars sixty six cents current money
grant bargain and sell unto the said Basil Shephard his heirs and assigns all
my crop of tobacco now in the House as by reference to the said Bill of sale will
more fully and at large appear.  And whereof the said Benjamin W. Brown
hath fully paid and satisfied to him the said Basil Shephard the above
mentioned sum of money and interest thereon he the said Basil Shephard doth
agree to execute this instrument of writing as a full release of the above
described property.  Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Basil
Shephard for and in consideration of the payment of the above mentioned
sum of money and the interest thereon for and in consideration of the sum of
one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin W. Brown at and
before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which
is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto him the said Benjamin W.
Brown his heirs and assigns forever the above mentioned and described
Tobacco.  To Have and To Hold the said Tobacco unto the said Benjamin
W. Brown his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of the said
Benjamin W. Brown his heirs and assigns forever.

          In Testimony whereof the said Basil Shephard has hereunto
set his hand and seal on the day and year first above written.

       State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct.

       On this 24.th day of April 1845 personally appears Basil Shephard
before the Subscriber a justice of the peace in and for said County
and acknowledged the within deed or instrument of writing to
be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof
and the acts of Assembly in such cases made and provided.  Witness
my hand the day and year first above written
