22 during his title and possession of the said Fanny the said Samuel was born to me in the sixth day of February eighteen hundred and twenty four of the said Fanny to serve the said Francis for thirty one years thereafter to wit until the sixth day of February eighteen hundred and fifty five. And whereas the said Francis hath departed this life after having duly executed his last will and testament which has been admitted to probate and is now on record in the office of Wills of the said County whereby the said Mary Baldwin was duly appointed sole executrix and as such came into the possession of the said Negro Boy Samuel and hath since sold him to the said John Rice. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Mary Baldwin Executrix aforesaid for and in consideration of the premises and for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy dollars current money to her in hand paid the receipt whereof the said Mary doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell and deliver unto the said John Rice the said negroe boy Samuel to serve him until the sixth day of February eighteen hundred and forty five and also all the right title and interest of the said Mary in and to any extension of the term of service of the said Samuel which may be made by the Court in consequence of the absconding of the said Samuel and of his depriving his owners of his service and taken and causing them to incur expenses and costs and thereafter to be free. In Testimony whereof the said Mary Baldwin Executrix as aforesaid and the said John Rice have hereunto set each of them their respective hands and seals the day and year aforesaid first dated Mary Baldwin (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered John Rice (seal) in presence of Sam Gott At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc. Be it remembered that on this twenty fifth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and forty five before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said State in and for the County aforesaid personally appear Mary Baldwin Executrix as aforesaid and John Rice both of the said County and acknowledged the aforegoing deed to be their respective act and deed.
