229. black mare, One Cow, two beds, bedsteads and furniture, half dozen chairs and two tables and all the rest and residue of my house hold stuff, and Kitchen furniture now in my possession To Have and to Hold the said Crop of tobacco in the field, black mare Cow beds bedsteads, Chairs household stuff and kitchen furniture to the said Elisha Marriott his executors, administrators and assigns forever And I the said Isaac Chaney for myself, my heirs executors and administrators the aforesaid crop of tobacco, black mare Cow, beds bedding, chairs tables, household stuff and Kitchen furniture to the said Elisha Marriott, his executors, administrators and assigns against me the said Isaac Chaney my executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided nevertheless, that in case I the said Isaac Chaney shall pay and satisfy to the said Elisha Marriott, or to his executors, administrators or assigns the sum of Eighty five dollars current money with interest for the same, on or before the 1.st May 1849. Then this Bill of Sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said crop of tobacco, black man, Cow, beds, bedsteads bedding tables, chairs, household stuff and Kitchen furniture are mortgaged by me the said Isaac Chaney to secure to the said Elisha Marriott the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Isaac Chaney have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the Twentyeth day of September One Thousand Eight hundred and forty seven Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of Isaac Chaney (Seal) Sam.l E. Duvall and John G. O. Hara Maryland, Anne Arundel County To wit On this 20.th September 1847 before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County Appears Isaac Chaney and Acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made and provided Witness my hand Samu.l E. Duvall J. P. State of Maryland Anne Arundel County To wit On this 20.th day of September Eighteen hundred and forty seven personally appears Elisa Marriott before me the subscriber one of the Justices of peace in and for said County and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of almighty God that the money in this bill of Sale Eighty five dollars is jusly due him and that he hath not received any part thereof or security or sattisfaction to best of his knowledge and belief So help his God Sworn to before me Sam.l E.
