Be it Remembered.  That on this fifteenth day of May 1847 before the
Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears F. G. Waters Executor
as aforesaid and John G. Holland and acknowledges the above Instrument
of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning

             John Gardner

Know all men By These Presents
That I Freeborn G. Waters Executor of
Charles Waters dec.d of Baltimore City
and State of Maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of Six hundred and
Thirty three dollars lawful money of the United States secured by note to
be paid by John Gardner of Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid at
or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged Have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents Do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Gardner his
Executors Administrators and assigns One Negro Boy named Lloyd
about Eight years old to be free first day of May Eighteen hundred
and seventy five (1875) One negro woman named "Eliza" about Twenty
six years old to be free first day May Eighteen hundred and Forty
seven (1847) One Negro Boy named Joe about Eight years old to be free
first day of May Eighteen hundred and Sixty (1860) and One Negro Girl
named "Delia" about Four years old to be free at Thirty One years of age
of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as slaves
for the respective terms above mentioned and thereafter to be free and discharged
from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last Will and
Testament of the said deceased the said negroes being sold and conveyed by
me as Executor and in virtue of the power and Authority vested in me by said
last will and Testament
