Be it Remembered.  That On this Eighteenth day of May 1847 before the
subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears F. G. Waters Executor
as aforesaid and Owen Cecil and acknowledges the above Instrument
of writing to be their Act and deed according to the true intent and meaning
thereof                  Acknowledged before

Bill of Sale from Freeborn
                   G. Waters
                             To
    John G. Holland
State of Maryland stamp One dollar

Know all men by These presents That
I Freeborn G Waters Executor of Charles
Waters dec.d of Baltimore City and State
of Maryland for and in consideration of the
sum of Four hundred and Ninety five dollars lawful money of the United
States in hand paid by John G. Holland of Howard District Anne Arundel
County and state aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents Do grant
bargain and sell unto the said John G. Holland his Executors administrators
and assigns                        One negro woman named Mary" about
Thirty years old to be free first day May Eighteen hundred and fifty six
(1856)  One Negro Girl named Hester about Seven years old to be
free at Thirty One years of age One Negro Boy named James about Four
years old to be free at Thirty five years of age and one Negro Girl named
"Henny" about Eighteen month old to be free at thirty One years of age
of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore deceased
as slaves to serve the respective terms aforesaid and thereafter to be free
and discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect
of the last Will and Testament of said deceased  The said negroes
being sold and conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power
and authority vested in me by said last Will and Testament
To Have and To Hold the said described Negroes for the terms of years
above mentioned but no longer to the said John G. Holland his executors
