184 in not paying the money herein named the said Charity C Gosnell is hereby empowered to sell the said negroes their term of servitude for the payment of the money due her by me the said Jno O Battee But if the negroes when sold should in value exceed the sum borrowed and now named in this bill of sale then the said C C Gosnell her Executors administrators or assigns shall pay over to me the said Jno O Battee my Executors administrators or assigns any such surplus but in case the said negroes should be sold and they do not sell for a sum that will pay entire the debt due the said C. C. Gosnell then in such case the said Jno O Battee is hereby bound and his property pledged to the paying up of any balance left in said borrowed money herein expressed to the said C. C. Gosnell her executors administrators or assigns In witness whereof I the said Jno O Battee have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of April 1847. Signed Sealed and delivered John O Battee (seal) in presence of W.m Glover At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct Be it remembered and it is hereby certify that on this eighth day of April eighteen hundred and forty seven before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for the said State and County aforesaid personally appears John O Battee and doth acknowledge the said Indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed. In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Acknowledged before Recorded the 8.th day of April 1847 W.m Glover costs $ 12½ Paid (State of Maryland stamp) ( 15 )
me in hand paid by Leonard Mallonee of Howard District at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Leonard Mallonee his Executors administrators and assigns one Gray horse about twelve years old one Bay mare about ten years old three cows one waggon and gears all the Tobacco in the House all the corn in the House all the Household and Kitchen furniture all which property is now in my possession.
