          At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    Maryland Sct Anne Arundel County to wit

Be it remembered that on this sixth day of March eighteen hundred and forty
seven before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state of
Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally appear
John Quynn Robert Welch of Ben and William Bryan and acknowledge
the foregoing instrument of writing to be their acts and deed according to
the true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly in
such case made and provided  And I hereby certify that the said John
Quynn Robert Welch of Ben and William Bryan the persons making
this acknowledgment are to my own knowledge the persons named and
described as and professing to be the parties grantors in the aforegoing instrument
of writing

Bill of sale from Freeborn G Waters
to John F. Bird dated the nineteenth
day of March 1847
Know all men by    (                 Dol              )
these presents That I Freeborn
G Waters Exr of Charles Waters deceased
of Baltimore City and State of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifteen
dollars lawful money of the United States received to be paid by note by John
F. Bird of Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid at or before the sealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said John F. Bird his Executors Administrators and assigns
one negro man named John aged about seventeen years of the property of
Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as a Slave to serve until the first
day of May eighteen hundred and sixty four (1864) and thereafter to be
free and discharged from servitude agreeably to the form and effect of
the last will & testament of the said declared the said negro being sold and
conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested
in me by said last & testament.  To Have and To Hold the said described Negro
man John for the term of years aforesaid but no longer to the said John F. Bird
his Executors administrators and assigns as aforesaid  In Witness whereof we have
hereunto set our hands and seals the nineteenth day of March eighteen
hundred and forty seven
