G Waters Exr as aforesaid and Jonathan Warfield and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Recorded the 9.th day of Jany 1847 Joshua Stewart costs 78½ cts Paid (State of Maryland stamp) ( one )
secured by note to be paid by Leonard W. Foreman of the said County the receipt of said note is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold & by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Leonard W. Foreman his Executors administrators and assigns my negro slave named Allick aged about twenty five years. To Have and To Hold the said male slave unto the said Leonard W Foreman his executors administrators and assigns from the day of the date of these presents until the first day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty seven and not longer. He the said male negro Slave named Allick will then be free by virtue of the last will and testament of a certain Charles Waters late of Baltimore City deceased. In Witness whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals this eighth day of February eighteen hundred and forty seven Signed sealed and delivered Randolph S Cromwell (seal) in presence of Joshua Stewart Leonard W. Foreman (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland A. A. County to wit Be it remembered that on this eighth day of February eighteen hundred and forty seven before the Subscriber a justice of the peace of said State in and for said County duly commissioned and sworn personally appeared Randolph S. Cromwell and Leonard W. Foreman they being known unto me to be the persons who are named and described as and professing to be aparties to the foregoing Indenture and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed. In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year above written "Leonard W. Foreman's name was interlined as Joshua Stewart above when the acknowledgments were taken by me Recorded the 16.th day of February 1847 Exam.d & dd costs 78½ cts Paid (State of Maryland stamp) ( one )
