166 Henry Johnson (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County S. S. Be it remembered that on this fourteenth day of January 1847 before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said County appears F G. Waters Exr as aforesaid & Henry Johnson and acknowledges the above Instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof acknowledged before Recorded the 1.st day of February 1847 Joshua Stewart costs 78½ Paid (State of Maryland stamp) ( one ) ( Dol )
the United States secured by note to be paid by Dorsey Jacobs of Anne Arundel County & State aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Dorsey Jacobs his Executors administrators and assigns one negro woman named Candy aged about twenty four years to be free first day of May eighteen hundred and fifty eight one negro Girl named Hannah aged about four years to be free at thirty one years of age and one negro Girl named Adeline aged about two years to be free at thirty one years of age of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as slaves for the respective terms above mentioned and thereafter to be free and discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last will and testament of the said dec.d the said negroes being sold and conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested in me by said last will and testament. To Have and To Hold the said described negroes to wit Candy Hannah & Adeline for the terms of years specified above but no longer to the said Dorsey Jacobs his Executors administrators and assigns aforesaid In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 14.th day of January eighteen hundred and forty seven Signed sealed and delivered F G.
