To Have and To Hold the said described Negro Boy Levy for a term of years as aforesaid but no longer to the said Rachel Johnson her Executors administrators and assigns as aforesaid. G Waters Exr (seal) in the presence of Joshua Stewart of Chas Waters At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Ss Be it remembered that on this fourteenth day of January 1847 before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said County appears F. G. Waters Exr as aforesaid & Rachel Johnson and acknowledges the above Instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Joshua Stewart Recorded 29.th day of January 1847 (State of Maryland stamp) ( one ) ( Dol )
money of the United States secured by note to be paid by Henry Johnson of Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry Johnson his Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy named Basil aged about seven years to be free on the first day of May eighteen hundred and seventy four (1874) and one negro man named Tom aged about forty seven years to be free first day of January eighteen hundred and forty nine (1849) of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as slaves for the terms of years above stated and thereafter to be free & discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last will & testament of the said dec.d The said negroes being sold & conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power & authority vested in me by said last will and testament. To Have and To Hold the said described Negroes basil and Tom for the terms of years aforesaid but no longer to the said Henry Johnson his Executors administrators and assigns as aforesaid.
