164 Shipley his Executors administrators and assigns one negro Girl named Lydia about eight years old to be free first day of May eighteen hundred and seventy two (1872) and one negro Boy named Dennis about seven years old to be free first day of May eighteen hundred and seventy five (1875) of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore decd as slaves to serve the respective times above mentioned and thereafter to be free and discharged from all servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last will & testament of the said deed. The said negroes being sold by me & conveyed as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested in me by said last will and testament To Have and To Hold the said described negroes Lydia & Dennis for the terms of years above specified but no longer to the said William Shipley his Executors administrators and assigns as aforesaid. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this sixteenth day of January eighteen hundred and forty seven Signed sealed and delivered F. G. Waters Exr of (seal) in the presence of Joshua Stewart Chas Waters decd At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Ss. Be it remembered that on this sixteenth day of January 1847 before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said appears F G. Waters Exr as aforesaid and William Shipley and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Recorded the 29.th day of January 1847. paid by Rachel Johnson of Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Janett Hancock his Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy named Levy now about eighteen months old of the property of Charles Waters late of the City of Baltimore dec.d as a slave to serve until he arrives at the age of thirty five years and thereafter to be free and discharged from all manner of servitude agreeably to the form and effect of the last will and testament of the said dec.d The said negro being sold and conveyed by me as Executor and in virtue of the power and authority vested in |
