16 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct. Be it remembered that on this twenty fourth day of April Eighteen hundred and forty five before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of said State in and for said County appears Thomas S. Alexander and John Johnson and Edward T. Paca and acknowledge the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and Meaning thereof Ex d d Acknowledged before W.m Glover Paid $.187½ Recorded the 25 day of April 1845 Know all men by these presents that Thomas Robinson of Anne Arundel County did on or about the seventeenth day of October last became security for George Cook of the County aforesaid for the payment of a promissory note of that date for the sum of security note of that date for the sum of seventy dollars drawn in favour and made payable to Richard Crisp of the County aforesaid with the understanding and upon the condition that the said George Cook was to protect and indemnify him from all loss on account of said securityship by the execution of a bill of sale to him for certain property hereinafter mentioned. Now know all men by these presents that I George Cook of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the above recited premises and also of the sum of one dollar lawful money to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Robinson before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Robinson his executors administrators and assigns one negro Boy named Stephen aged about five years a slave for life two horses and five head of cattle To Have and to hold the said described property to him the said Thomas Robinson his heirs and assigns executors and administrators provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties thereto that if the said George Cook his heirs executors or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Richard Crisp his executors administrators or assigns the said full sum of seventy dollars current money with legal interest for the same according to the said promissory note without any deduction or abatement whatsoever then and from thence forth these presents and every matter and thing therein contained shall cease and be utterly null and void anything therein contained to the contrary thereof ^in anywise^ notwithstanding In Witness whereof the said George Cook hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal on this fifteenth day of April in the year one |
