as aforesaid.  In Testimony whereof the said Elizabeth Merriken and
the said Thomas J Mezick have hereunto set their hands and seals
on this thirty first day of December eighteen hundred and forty six

      At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

             State of Maryland
                                        Anne Arundel County Sct

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 31.st day
of December eighteen hundred and forty before the Subscriber a Justice
of the peace in and for said County personally appeared Elizabeth
Merriken and Thomas J Mezick they being known to me to be
the persons who are named and described and professing to be the parties
to the foregoing deed or Indenture and doth acknowledge the said Indenture
or instrument of writing to be their act and deed.  In Testimony whereof
I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

       Know all men by these presents that I                                    (State of Maryland stamp)
Margaret Stinchicomb of Anne Arundel County and and State of   (                  one             )
Maryland for and in consideration of four hundred dollars current   (                  Dol             )
money to me in hand paid by Henry A Williams of the County and
State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt
whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and
by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry A.
Williams his Executors administrators and assigns my negro man
James which I bought of Samuel D Lynch administrator of my
late husband Richard A. Stinchicomb which property is now in my
possession.  To Have and to hold the same described property above
designated and sold to the said Henry A Williams his Executors
administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use
and benefit.  And I the said Margaret Stinchicomb for myself my
Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend
by these presents to the said Henry A Williams his executors administrators
and assigns the said described property against me my executors administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming
the same or any part thereof.  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed my seal this twenty first day of December eighteen
hundred and forty six.
