for the following uses and purposes that is to say that the parties
hereto of the second part or their representatives shall at the
expiration of twenty days after default as aforesaid proceed to sell the
property and effects hereby mortgaged and apply the proceeds to the
payment of the said Draught or Bill of Exchange and all interest
accrued on account thereof and the costs and expenses incident to the
execution of this Trust and the balance or surplus pay over to the
said Francis Brashears or his legal representatives.  In Witness
whereof the said Francis Brashears hath hereunto subscribed his
name and affixed his seal on the day and year first herein written
Signed sealed and delivered                                 his
       in the presence of Samuel Manning     Francis x Brashears   (seal)

       At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

          State of Maryland City of Baltimore Sct

          Be it remembered that on this third day of December eighteen
hundred and forty six before me a justice of the peace of the state
of Maryland in and for said City personally appeared Francis Brashears
and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act
and Deed
                      Acknowledged before            Samuel Manning

       State of Maryland Baltimore County Ss.

    I hereby certify that Samuel Manning gentleman before whom
the aforegoing acknowledgment was made and who hath thereto
signed his name was at the time of so doing one of the Justices of
the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore
duly commissioned and sworn
                               In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my
                (seal)      name and affix the seal of Baltimore County
                              Court this 4.th day of December 1846

Know all men by these presents
that I Edwin W Duvall of for and in
consideration of the sum of               (State of Maryland stamp)
eight hundred and sixty                     (                  50               )
five dollars current money to me in    (                 Cts              )
hand paid by George Hayden at and before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said
George Hayden the following negro slaves to wit Lethy Pinkney aged
