subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 17.th day of October
in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty six

       in the presence of W. F. Leitch J. P.

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

             State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 17.th day of October
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six before
the Subscriber a justice of the peace of the State and County aforesaid personally
appears Rachel E. Lane he being known to me to be the person who is named
and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing instrument
of writing and doth acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be
her act and deed.  In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my
name on the day and year aforesaid

Bill of sale from Thomas S Alexander
and John Johnson to John E Pettibone
dated the twenty seventh day of
October eighteen hundred and forty six
Know all men by these
presents that we Thomas
S. Alexander and John Johnson
trustees under a decree of
the Court of Chancery of
Maryland passed in a cause in the said Court depending wherein
the said Thomas S. Alexander and John Johnson were Complainants
and Richard I. Jones was defendant for and in consideration of the
sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars current money to him
in hand paid by John E Pettibone of Anne Arundel County in the
State of Maryland at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
John E. Pettibone his Executors administrators and assigns one negro
man named Peter Anderson to serve until the Second day of August
in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty three and then to
be free and also one negro man named William H Addison to serve
until the sixteenth day of April in the year one thousand eight
hundred and fifty and then to be free.  To Have and To Hold the said
negroes above named to the said John E. Pettibone his Executors administrators
and assigns until the periods above limited in that respect
In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this
27.th day of October in the year eighteen hundred and forty six
