       At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

                   Anne Arundel County Sct

Be it remembered that in this twenty third day of October eighteen
hundred and forty six before the Subscriber a justice of the peace of the
State of Maryland for Anne Arundel County personally appears
George M. Duvall party grantor in the annexed instrument of writing
and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed

Bill of sale from Rachel E Lane
to Susan L Wells dated the 17.th
day of October 1846
Know all men by these presents
that I Rachel E Lane of Anne
Arundel County in the State
of Maryland in order to comply
with the wish of my father Samuel Deale late of Baltimore City in the State
of Maryland deceased and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars
current money to me in hand paid by my sister Susan L Wells of the
county and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of
these presents the receipt whereof I the said Rachel E. Lane do hereby
acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do
grant bargain and sell unto the said Susan L Wells her Executors administrators
and assigns one negro woman named Flora aged about twenty
four years five feet six inches in height no particular mark visable
together with her issue forever.  To Have and To Hold the said negro woman
Flora and her issue above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to
be to the said Susan L Wells her executors administrators and assigns
forever and I the said Rachel E. Deale for myself my heirs executors and
administrators all and singular the said negro Flora and her issue unto
the said Susan L Wells her executors administrators and assigns against
me the said Rachel E Lane my executors and administrators and
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents of all and singular the
said negro woman Flora and her issue I the said Rachel E. Lane
have put the said Susan L Wells in full possession by delivering the
said Negro Woman Flora to her the said Susan L Wells at the sealing
and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises
hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended unto be so to
the said Susan L Wells as aforesaid.  In witness whereof I have hereunto
