    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

                          Be it remembered that on this twenty second day of October
1846 before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said County appears Henry
Daniel and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and
and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof

John E. Pettibone to Hamilton P Moss
Bill of sale dated the twenty seventh
day of October eighteen hundred and forty six
 Know all men by these
presents that I John
E. Pettibone of Anne Arundel
County in the state of
Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty
five dollars current money to him in hand paid by Hamilton P. Moss of
the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said
Hamilton P Moss his Executors Administrators and assigns one negro man
named William H. Addison to serve until the sixteenth day of April
in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty and then to be free to
Have and To Hold the said negro abovenamed to the said Hamilton P Moss
his Executors Administrators and assigns until the period above limited
in that respect  In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 27.th day of October in the year eighteen hundred and forty six

    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

    Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 27.th day of October
in the year eighteen hundred and forty six before the Subscriber a justice
of the peace for the County and state aforesaid personally appears the above
named John E. Pettibone and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument
of writing to be his act and deed for the purpose therein
mentioned
