of Anne Arundel County Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of Eight hundred dollars current money the United States to me in
hand paid by Joseph Hodges of the same place at or before the sealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said Joseph Hodges his Executors administrators and
assigns the following described property to wit one negro Boy named
Henry aged about twenty years one negro woman Roley aged about thirty
five years one boy Horace aged about two years two horses and one colt
two cows twenty head of hogs two carts and gear one waggon and
geer all my farming utensils and household furniture now on my
farm on which I reside in the the third Election District of Anne
Arundel County one small boat and my growing crop of corn on said
farm  To Have and to Hold the above described property hereby bargained
& sold or meant mentioned or intended hereby so to be to the said Joseph
Hodges his Executors administrators and assigns forever  And I the said
Vincent for myself my heirs Executors & administrators all and singular
the said property above conveyed unto the said Joseph his Executors
administrators and assigns against me the said Vincent my
Executors & administrators will hereafter warrant & defend by these
presents.  In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed
my seal this twentieth day of August one thousand eight
hundred & forty six

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

Received the 20.th day of August 1846 of Joseph Hodges eight hundred
dollars the consideration money mentioned in the foregoing Bill of sale

Anne Arundel County Sct      Be it remembered that on this twentieth
day of August eighteen hundred & forty six personally appeared Vincent
Grimes known to us by information to be the identical person mentioned
in the within Bill of sale as party grantee before the Subscriber a Justice
of the peace of the State of Maryland for Anne Arundel County and
acknowledged the same to be his act and deed the property therein
named & thereby bargained & sold to be the right and estate of the
within named Joseph Hodges also named therein as party grantee
according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof
                            Acknowledged before and certified by us
Recorded the twentieth day of August 1846                     W.m Glover
