Tho.s E. Burk at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof I the said Tho.s E Burk do hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said Henry B. Darnall his Executors administrators
and assigns forever the household Furniture and Kitchen Furniture
&s one cow and three hogs.  To Have and To Hold the property aforesaid to
the said property H. B. Darnall his Executors administrators and assigns
forever and I the said Tho.s E. Burke for myself my heirs Executors
and administrators as aforesaid the said property to the said H B. Darnall
his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said
Tho.s E. Burk my executors and administrators and against all
and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant
and forever defend by these presents  Provided Nevertheless that in
case I the said Thos E Burk shall pay and satisfy the said Tho B. Darnall
or his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of fifty dollars current
money with the interest for the same then due on or before the 15.th day of
Augt 1848 then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein
expressed shall be void and null and of none effect It being the true
intent and meaning thereof that the property aforesaid is mortgaged
by me the said Tho.s E Burk to secure the rents due as Collateral
security the payment of fifty dollars and interest as aforesaid  In
Witness whereof I the said Thos E Burk have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my seal the tenth day of August in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty six                       his

in the presence of Lewis Sutton Sr Philip D Sutton      mark

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    State of Md A. A. Ct To wit

On this 10.th day of August Anno Domini 1846 before me the Subscriber one
of the Justices of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid appeared
Tho.s E Burk and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing
to be his act and deed and the property therein named and thereby
conveyed to be the right and Estate of the therein named Henry B.
Darnall upon the conditions therein expressed according to the true
intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly as in such a
case as made and provided  As Witness my hand and seal the day and
date above written
                         Done and acknowledged before         Lewis Sutton sr   (seal)
