120 administrators and assigns the following negro men to wit Ben Bill Solomon Osborn Jim Tom Hinson and Nelson all slaves for life and then on the said farms as by reference to the above recited deed of mortgage will more fully and at large appear And whereas the said Samuel Augustus Clagett and Charles Clagett have fully satisfied and paid to them the said John Sullivan & sons the above mentioned sum of money with the interest thereon they the said John Sullivan Henry Sullivan and Francis trading as aforesaid under the name style and firm of John Sullivan & sons do agree to execute this instrument of writing as a full release of the above mentioned crops of tobacco and corn and the aforementioned negro man. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Sullivan Henry Sullivan and Francis Sullivan trading as aforesaid under the name style and firm of John Sullivan & sons for and in consideration of the payment of the above mentioned sum of money and the interest thereon and for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars current money to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Augustus Clagett and Charles Clagett the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves to be fully satisfied contented and paid have and by these presents do grant bargain and sell and release unto them the said Samuel Augustus Clagett and Charles Clagett their executors administrators and assigns forever so much of the above described crops of Tobacco and corn as remain unsold and all the aforenamed negro men to them the said Samuel Augustus Clagett respectively of their several interest therein for ever to their only proper use and behoof and to and for no other use or purpose whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said John Sullivan Henry Sullivan and Francis Sullivan have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first herein mentioned Signed sealed and delivered Jno Sullivan (seal) in presence of John Showacre P. Henry Sullivan (seal) F. Sullivan (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland City of Baltimore to wit Be it remembered that on this second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore personally appear John Sullivan Henry Sullivan and Francis Sullivan the party grantors |
